Benefits of forged en74/bs1139 single clamp
En74 forged single couplers
En74 forged single couplers, also widely referred to as putlog couplers or “pig ear” Clips, are non-load-bearing scaffolding fittings used to connect transom or putlog tubes to ledgers at a fixed 90°angle. Unlike swivel couplers and double couplers, they feature only one clamping point and are mainly designed for constructing working platforms, rather than providing structural support.
Key specifications & technical details
Main applications
Transom-to-ledger fixing: Secure horizontal transom tubes (used to support scaffold boards) to longitudinal ledger tubes.
Guardrail & midrail installation: Fasten non-structural guardrails and midrails to vertical standards.
Toe board fixing: Attach toe boards to the scaffold frame to prevent tools and small materials from falling.
Safety considerations
Non-load-bearing design: Must not be used for primary structural joints or to resist significant tension or compression loads. Double (right-angle) couplers should be used for such purposes instead.
Tightening torque: Recommended tightening torque is 54 nm to ensure reliable clamping without distorting the coupler.
Regular inspection: Periodically inspect the coupler body and clamping flap for bending or distortion caused by overloading or improper use.
